A stripe is built for speed, not safety. With no parity and no mirror, the array can't rebuild the missing pieces itself — which is precisely why careful imaging matters so much.
A dead controller, bridge or enclosure can drop a perfectly healthy stripe. The disks are fine, but the stripe geometry has to be worked out before the volume goes back together.
Recreating the array, or a firmware glitch, can lose the block size, disk order and offset that define the stripe. Get them wrong and the data reassembles as noise — we recover them precisely from the images.
Since every file is spread over all the disks, bad sectors on any one member punch holes through many files. Hardware imaging reads around the damage to save the most it can.
Initialising or reformatting a striped volume to 'sort it out' overwrites the metadata we rely on. If that's happened, stop straight away and power the system down.
Because a stripe keeps no spare copy, every disk counts. We clone each member to a stable image on hardware imagers — repairing any physically failing disk in the clean room first — then work out the exact disk order, block (stripe) size and offset, re-stripe the data virtually and rebuild the file system to pull your files off. We never write to your original disks.
With no parity or mirror, a RAID 0 array can't heal itself — one dead disk means the whole set has to be recovered together, and a physically failing drive degrades a little more every time it spins up. If a drive has failed, power the system down and leave the 'repair' and initialise tools alone; the metadata they overwrite is exactly what we need to re-stripe your data.

Please remove the internal hard drive or SSD and send us just the drive — we don't provide an internal drive-removal service. We don't recover storage soldered to a motherboard (e.g. Apple Silicon Macs and some thin laptops) — only drives that can be removed and sent to us.
