Plain-English detail on what we collect, why, and how the data on your device is protected. Last updated August 2026.
Sheffield Data Recovery provides data recovery services for customers in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and across the UK. Recovery work is carried out at our secure receiving lab at 17th Floor, The Pinnacle, Albion Street, Leeds, LS1 5AA. You can contact us about anything in this policy on 0800 689 0668 (Mon–Fri 9:00am–5:30pm).
When you use our enquiry or free diagnostic forms we collect your name, phone number, email address and the description you give of your device and fault. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry, provide diagnostics and quotes, and manage your recovery job. We do not sell or share your details with third parties for marketing, and we don't send marketing ourselves.
Devices sent to us are logged into our secure lab and handled only by our engineers. Recovered data is copied to encrypted media for return to you. Once you confirm you have your files back safely, our working copies are securely erased. We never browse, use or disclose the contents of your device except as needed to perform the recovery you've asked for, or where the law requires.
Enquiry details are kept for as long as needed to handle your job and for our basic business records. Working copies of recovered data are erased after you confirm safe receipt — typically within 14 days of return.
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we no longer need it. Call 0800 689 0668 and we'll deal with your request promptly. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
